- ➤ South Woods Guesthouse and Sauna will open its community sauna on November 16 near Lake Sequoyah and offers weekly woodfired sessions with Founder’s Pricing discounts until December 9. - ➤ Musicians Larry & Joe will open the Arkansas Country Blues and Stringband Festival tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in Springdale’s Luther George Park and will perform again on Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Jones Center—blending Appalachian and Venezuelan folk music through stories and song. The Free Weekly

- ➤ U of A invites campus departments, offices, and student groups to host events for Welcome Weeks—set for Jan. 12—23 to help new and returning Razorbacks connect at the start of the semester. Events must be submitted by Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. to be added to the official calendar. University of Arkansas
- ➤ Researchers from the University of Arkansas and the University of Michigan tested graphene-based solar cells that power ultra-low power temperature sensors—this test clears a key step in building self-powered sensor systems that run on ambient energy and could last for decades without batteries. - ➤ Scientists at the University of Arkansas discovered that straining sodium niobate produces three phases in a lead-free ferroelectric—improving its performance for smaller, safer electronic devices. The research published in Nature Communications shows a new way to reduce toxic lead in essential electronics components. University of Arkansas
- ➤ Fiona Symington and Luke Mitchell, longtime U.K. residents, created the Luke Mitchell and Fiona Mitchell Land of Opportunity Scholarship Endowment with a $400,000 gift to help Arkansas undergraduates with strong academic promise and high financial need. - ➤ The Department of Health, Human Performance— and Recreation is hosting free Youth Mental Health First Aid training for students, faculty, and community members through December. The training will be available virtually or in-person and will also offer an instructor certification path after course completion. University of Arkansas
- ➤ College of Education and Health Professions alumna Elizabeth Ocampo-Roman became Arkansas’s first bilingual auditory-verbal therapist and uses parent coaching to help Spanish-speaking families improve speech development for children with hearing loss—her clinical training and practicum experiences prepared her for this role.
