CULTURE NEWS

  • TheatreSquared leased 3,200 square feet of warehouse space from Ozark Natural Foods at 380 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville to house its production storage. Sterling Hamilton and Marshall Saviers of Cushman and Wakefield and Sage Partners brokered the 10-year lease and donated their fee to TheatreSquared—an effort that bolsters its logistical operations and ties to the community.  NWA Business Journal
  • PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity, the U.S. Pavilion’s exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia, will end with a three-day Finissage program—featuring performances, design dialogues, art activations and community workshops—scheduled for November 21-23, marking the close of a six-month run that united local and global voices. Organized by the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design with its partners, the program celebrates community creativity and shared artistic experiences.  University of Arkansas

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Fayetteville restaurant and hospitality workers face rising living costs and a housing crisis that has pushed more to seek help from a local nonprofit that has given nearly $42,000 in aid so far. The city commission approved a $10,000 allocation for next year's budget to support the Fayetteville Independent Restaurant Alliance—formed in 2020 to help workers hit by the pandemic—and will review a full 2026 budget in December.  4029 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Officials at Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale opened a time capsule buried in 2000 during its 50th anniversary celebration and revealed items such as NWTI pens, class brochures, and a frisbee (the event took place Tuesday).  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The John W. White Award—started 49 years ago to honor excellence in extension, research, and teaching—recognized winners at the Agriculture Awards on Nov. 14. The honors went to Brandon McFadden for research, Laura Herold for teaching, Amanda McWhirt for state extension, Michelle Mobley for county extension, and the Feral Hog Control Program team, along with awards for support and early career achievements.  University of Arkansas
  • The College of Engineering has selected six interdisciplinary working groups for the 2025-26 academic year to advance research in biotechnology, agriculture, cybersecurity, materials manufacturing and transportation & engineering education. The groups will use seed funding to launch new projects and build on existing initiatives by bringing together faculty from different departments to secure external funding.  University of Arkansas

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Researchers from the U of A Division of Agriculture led by Professor Trent Roberts determined cardinal temperature ranges for eight cover crops to improve plant-growth models that aid in erosion control and weed management. Lead author Mila Pessotto earned a 2025 Outstanding Paper Award from American agronomy societies (including revised base temperature values for cereal rye) as the study provided 14 critical temperature values (which will help refine future farming practices).  University of Arkansas

  • The Razorbacks beat Winthrop 84-83 at Bud Walton Arena on November 18 when Nick Pringle scored a game-winning layup in the final minute—technical fouls and bench ejections followed a scramble in the closing seconds.  Fayetteville Flyer
