- ➤ Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport said 2025 is its busiest travel year and expects Thanksgiving to increase traffic as recent terminal upgrades ease congestion. - ➤ Walmart reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $6.14 billion—up from $4.58 billion last year—and beat analyst estimates while raising its outlook for the holiday season. The retailer will transfer its stock listing to Nasdaq on December 9 and announced that its CEO will retire early next year with a new head of U.S. operations set to take over in February. - ➤ University of Arkansas faculty were ranked among the world’s most cited researchers using 2024 Scopus data—a list compiled by Stanford professor John P.A. Ioannidis that names more than 30 active researchers from several colleges. The ranking covers both recent achievements and career-long impact dating back to 1996. University of Arkansas
- ➤ The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville will build a new parking garage with more than 1,000 spaces by summer 2029. Chancellor Charles Robinson said the project aims to ease the growing parking issue on campus — it is expected to help students and staff. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ William Corbett, a candidate for dean at the University of Arkansas School of Law, said he will boost fundraising and build connections if selected for the role. - ➤ Graduate students Ruvindu Perera, Mostafa Mahmoudi, and Harneet Kaur won prizes at the 3 Minute Thesis finale held Nov. 13—Perera earned first place for his vaccine research to prevent lameness in broiler chickens and won $1,000 plus a trip to Greenville while Mahmoudi and Kaur received $750 and $500, respectively. - ➤ At its fall meeting, the College of Education and Health Professions’ Dean’s Executive Advisory Board gathered at Mullins Library to view a new Virtual Reality Simulation Lab, see doctoral students’ poster presentations and tour the Fred Smith Football Facility. Dean Kate Mamiseishvili used a Dr. Seuss performance and a review of the WE CARE strategic plan—highlighting over $56.5 million in grants, 1,744 student internships and numerous service projects—to stress innovation in education.
