BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Arkansas Capital Scan report found venture investment steady in 2024 with nearly $260M raised across 18 deals, mainly in Northwest. The Northwest Arkansas Council expanded its founder-funder program into Onward FX this year to boost early-stage funding as updated securities law comes in 2026.  University of Arkansas
  • Fayetteville Tea House, a new tea shop and cafe by locals Avalon Gurel and Alyssa Stockland, opened at 315 W. Center St. near Fayetteville Public Library. It offers teas, coffees, and matcha lattes and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • Walmart announced that Anthropologie, the first in the region, will open in spring 2026 on its Bentonville campus along 8th Street near Sweetgreen, Chipotle and Starbucks.  5 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Bella Vista Community Church announced that Menorah lighting celebrations will be held at the Fayetteville and Bentonville squares. The event honors cultural traditions and invites local community participation.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Alan Mantooth, a Distinguished Professor at the U of A, has been named to the National Academy of Inventors’ 2025 class of fellows and will be inducted in June. He submitted 45 invention disclosures and earned 12 patents with designs that have flown on the International Space Station.  University of Arkansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The University of Arkansas Police Department promoted Aaron Mahan to captain of operations today. He has long served the department & won several awards and will now lead its largest section.  University of Arkansas

  • The Razorbacks released their 2026 football schedule Thursday night and sports writers Matt Jones and Ethan Westerman shared their reactions to the team's plans. Their comments gave a local look at the schedule's key matchups for the upcoming season.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
